Independence Fund, helping wounded Veterans

Greetings everyone!

I hope you're all doing well. From Sep. 30 through Oct. 3, the Independence Fund will be holding a 4-day fundraiser in Beaufort, South Carolina, in conjunction with the 16th Annual Shrimp Festival. The intent is to honor some severely injured veterans and their families. This organization has played a big role in my life by providing me with the equipment and motivation to move forward. There will be a run/bike event, a Gary Sinise concert, a veterans art exhibit and a bunch of other events -- for more information, please visit www.ltdanweekend.com. This will be the first time I will be a part of the biking event with a Quad adapted hand cycle. No more sandbaggin' on the sidelines.

Currently, numerous wounded veterans and others are raising money by selling wristbands, T-shirts and by promoting cell phone text donations of $5, so that wounded soldiers and their families are better taken care of. PLEASE pass this along to friends and business affiliates, and consider making a donation today.

The Independence Fund is a great organization I've had the privilege to be a part of. They were there for me during some tough times along my new path in life. They provided me with an amazing IBOT chair, which the military does not cover. Most of all, they provided me an opportunity to be with injured comrades that make you appreciate this great life.

Those who know me and everyone else reading this, please do not feel any obligation, I’m just putting out some valuable information on a good organization. Links to the event and personal stories are listed below.

If you would like to help in another capacity through some business networking, please read further.

Ultimately, like all our events, the Lt. Dan Weekend will end up being funded by the regular people who throw five bucks into a collection plate. It would be nice to see some of the local businesses or affiliates of larger institutions chip in to support an event that has such a significant impact on the troops who attend. It’s a pain, filling out numerous applications for big company donations, sending it to the mass of upper echelon affiliates and not even receiving a respectful reply. Replies generally consist of "In this tough economy we are unfortunately unable to support..." or... no reply at all. These are some responses from companies that put out ads boasting how much they "Support" the military.

We have found the most effective way of delivering our Requests/Proposals to the proper decisionmakers is by working a personal angle through a volunteer (family member, friend, etc) who can pass along this information with personal emphasis, to the right people within the network. This has brought us the most success. If you can help in any capacity, whether it be passing the request along to someone that can get results, or if you are that person within your organization; I ask you keep the independence fund in mind. Please feel free to call me at 540-597-3186 if you are interested and need any more information.

It is very interesting for me to read the article. Thanx for it. I like such themes and everything that is connected to them. I definitely want to read a bit more on this blog soon. BTW, rather nice design that site has, but don’t you think design should be changed once in a few months?
